City Man's World
Verse 1
It started to rain after graduation day
He packed up his things and slowly pulled away
With nothing ahead but blacktop and foggy dreams
Feeling way to young to carry his degree
First real job took him to the city
8-hundred a month don’t include utilities
and he cant sleep cause his neighbor’s radio’s on
between the beer and rent the money from his paycheck’s
gone
Chorus
This city’s tough for a county boy that never had dreams
beyond football
Out in the world to make a name for himself with no direction
to help him out
Day after day it’s the same old thing, the same bad stress
and the same bad dreams
He’s tough, he’s mad, he’s scared, he’s
sad
He’s a country boy…in a city man’s world
Verse 2
Starts his day with a shirt and a tie
A sick-to-my-stomach look in his eye
Wishes he could put on boots and a Carhart coat
but that’s life I guess in that rat-race circus show
Driving to work, wishes life was different
Hope’n last night’s distraction doesn’t turn
up pregnant
Trapped in a corner, he can’t tell where to go
Life keeps delivering blow after blow
Chorus 1
_ Verse w/ no lyrics
Chorus 2
Finally one morning he had enough and never called in, just packed
his stuff
Found a dream inside himself having very little to do with wealth
The sun poked through a few dark clouds as he turned the corner
and headed south
He’s gone, he’s done, it may be wrong
But hey city man…(strum)…you can have your world
…city man’s wor----rld
